Laura Anderson says Love Island should start a body positive movement and welcome different-sized stars this summer.
The 2018 runner-up has told the Mirror that ITV shouldn't stop there - bosses need to consider widening the age-spectrum of the show's contestants, too.
The 32-year-old feels we all need the return of the dating show this summer and she'll be just as gripped as we will once it's back.
But she says there are ways it can get even better - despite already showing how diverse the programme is.
Dubai-based Laura, who appeared alongside Wes Nelson, Alex George and eventual winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham, has been back in the UK over the past few weeks as she gears up to launch her fantastic new fashion label.
Like most of us, she is already planning for summer and says little tweaks to the Love Island format would be a huge step forward.
The Scottish star said: "I've watched it every year - before I went on and after. You have to!
"I'm excited already, I feel we need a bit of positivity at the moment. Everyone loves watching people fall in love and I'm sure they're going to make it really diverse again.
"Every year they try to accommodate. There's been talk about same sex couples and personally I think they should give everything a go.
"There's already a lot of diversity with different races, but size? Not so much yet. Age? Well, I was always the old one!
"They should definitely experiment. There's so many different ages ranges who watch Love Island - to keep growing as a show, they need to be careful and be inclusive."
She added: "I know everyone thinks it's all about looks.
"But when you're in there, it's also really about personality - I think I did well not because of the way I looked, but maybe because people liked me. People like to watch people they like, not just because they are pretty.
"A bit of depth would go down well, and not so much of a focus maybe on your standard beauty would really mix it up.
"It would give it the credibility it deserves, because it's an amazing show."
Laura is back from the Middle East when she lives with boyfriend Dane Bowers, who stayed home to keep their dog company.
She says she has been putting the finishing touches on her soon-to-be-launched fashion label and it's all starting to get very real.
"It's been great being back home, I've been everywhere and I am so excited about this project.
"I have wanted to do this for so long - every girl wants to, don't they?
"Luckily I have found a trustworthy business parter who has everything in place - he's invested in me and given me the confidence I need.
"It's been really important to come back and honestly it's like a dream - I love learning and feeling like I can be creative.
"We're launching in May, fingers crossed - it's going to be online so lots of worldwide shopping.
"The samples are being made so now it's about the launch, hopefully in London and also Dubai."
