Love Island star Dami Hope was left humbled when girlfriend Indiyah Polack’s mum called him “Deji” by mistake, as she told him what she thought of his Casa Amor antics during Sunday night’s episode.
Indiyah, 23, was reunited with her mum Dee and sister during the show’s Meet the Parents episode ahead of the series finale on Monday night.
Following an emotional greeting, the Islander’s mum and sister wasted no time in setting Dami, 26, straight after stepping out on Indiyah in Casa Amor with dumped contestant Summer Botwe.
Indiyah’s mum at one point addressed Dami as bombshell Deji Adeniyi — whom Indiyah returned to the villa with from Casa Amor — leaving the group in stitiches, while Dami sat visibly shocked.
“Deji, so,” Indiyah’s mum began, before she stopped herself. Dami yelled: “Deji?! Why?!’ then laughed the awkward moment off in good humour along with Indiyah’s mum and sister.
The mistake broke the ice after a tense confrontation moments before between Dami and the Polack family. Indiyah’s mum Dee was not happy, as she said: “The behaviour, and I’m sure Shak will tell Dami, he’s not been cleared yet. He’s not cleared in my eyes yet either.”
Dee went on to grill Dami after meeting him, saying: “So explain the three-way kiss...”
The star was criticiesd by his own family when he reunited with his sister Femi, who said: “Why? Why?” when discussing the Casa Amor situation.
Indiyah’s mum’s name slip-up follows the Islander’s frequent mistakes in the same vein. Embarrassed by the moment, Indiyah said in the Beach Hut: “Like mother, like daughter...when she did that...I literally just wanted the floor to swallow me up.”
Fans found the namecall hilarious, as one person tweeted: “Did her mum just call him DEJI”, while another wrote: “Indiyah’s mum defo called Dami Deji on purpose and I LOVE ITTTTT
A third fan said: “NGL THE BIGGEST VICTIOM OF LOVE ISLAND HISTORY HAS TO BE DAMI MAN. GOT CALLED DEJI TWO TIMES BY HIS GIRL AND BY HER MUM.”
Another viewer added: “Indiyah’s mum is a QUEEN calling him Deji was EVERYTHING LoveIsland.”
