Love Island's Iain Stirling reveals dream Laura Whitmore replacement

Iain Stirling has revealed his dream replacement for his wife Laura Whitmore after she stepped down from Love Island.

The presenter and journalist shocked fans when she confirmed she would be exiting her hosting duties on the ITV show after three years at the helm. Now Iain, who does the voiceover on the show, has revealed his dream replacement.

At the time, Laura said she would be leaving the show as there were "certain elements" she had found "very difficult". Iain is expected to remain in his role as narrator, where his jokes go down a treat with fans of the show.

Asked who would be his ideal replacement, he suggested Formula One driver Lando Norris.

"I’ve played computer games with him before and he seems like a really nice guy. He’s young he’s handsome, let’s get him involved, I’d like to see that happen!" he quipped to the Metro, before heaping praise on his wife.

He added: "Laura is an incredible talent. She’s got so many strings to her bow, it’s a really exciting time for her really. As her husband I’m really excited to see what she’s got planned because sometimes even I can’t keep up!"

It comes after Laura appeared to make a cryptic dig at the show amid her exit.

Speaking about her exit from the programme, she said: "Love Island is a show that I love to watch, and I always want to work on shows that I enjoy. But there’s nothing more that I can do with it. There are parameters.

"When you work on the show, you can’t really talk about certain things. But I’m really proud of what I did, and proud to leave on what I think has been a brilliant series, with great winners. I'm a huge fan of Ekin-Su and Davide. I know Love Island. People love a journey. No-one wants a happy relationship, because life isn’t a happy relationship. We want to see the ups and downs."

Laura stunned fans when she announced her departure from the show in a surprise statement following the end of the latest series.

"Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island," she said in a statement as she announced her departure.

"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects. I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series."

A replacement has yet been decided but many names have been thrown into the ring by fans including Emily Atack, Maya Jama and Rylan Clark. Even last year's winner Ekin-Su is on the fans' wish list for presenter.
