Love Island viewers have been left absolutely baffled after Iain Stirling confirmed the final date for the 2022 series in the most recent episode of the ITV2 programme. The news comes after four new bombshells entered the villa this week.
Nathalia Campos, Reece Ford, Jamie Allen, and Lacey Edwards joined the line-up following a brutal dumping that saw Summer Botwe and Billy Brown leave the show. And as the new contestants got to know the Islanders, narrator Iain revealed how long everyone's got left to make connections.
Opening the show on Thursday, July 21, Iain told viewers: "Four bombshells have hit the villa, all chasing a love that will last until the sun implodes and a glorious supernova at the end of the universe.

"Or failing that a week on Monday at 10:30pm UK time when the final is done. They're romantic, but also practical."
Later in the episode, Iain made reference to the finale again and said: "There are four new bombshells, we are 11 days away from the final, the clock is ticking, people!"
It means the final episode of series 8 will air on Monday, August 1 and will see one couple crowned winners with the chance of bagging the £50,000 prize money. However, after hearing the news, many viewers took to social media to share their thoughts.
"Sorry did Iain just say 11 days to the final?" quizzed one viewer, while another pointed out: "There's NO way there are only 11 days left? Literally no one likes each other."
"11 days to the final no one deserves to win I'm sorry," a third claimed, while another baffled social media user said: "11 days from the final and there's still so many people."
There are currently six singletons and five couples in the Love Island villa with a current total of 16 Islanders. Danica Taylor and Deji Adeniyi are single after Summer and Billy got the boot and have been getting to know the new bombshells Nathalia, Reece, Jamie and Lacey.
Meanwhile, those coupled up include Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack and Adam Collard and Paige Thorne. Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page are the only couple in an official relationship while Luca Bish and Gemma Owen were the first to say "I love you."
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
