Love Island star Gemma Owen has said "it could have been anyone out of the four couples" who placed first and second on the show, following Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti's victory on Monday night.
Michael Owen's daughter, who came runner-up with Luca Bish on the show, shared her happiness for the winners, as she praised all four final couples.
Adding that the four final duos were all "strong" pairings, she suggested the result could have gone any way.
It follows the news that Ekin-Su and Davide scored a whopping 63.69 percent of the final vote, while Gemma and Luca gained 14 percent.
Speaking after the final, Gemma revealed her thoughts on coming second place - following claims from some viewers that Luca looked baffled by their position - which fans of Luca have hit back at.
She said: "It feels absolutely amazing. I don’t think any of us expected it.
"I feel like it could have been anyone out of the four couples. Really strong connections - I love all of them!
"Whatever the situation was last night, I think we all just would have been happy for each other - a really good group of people."
Viewers had taken to Twitter on Monday night to suggest Luca was surprised to not win, as Ekin-Su and Davide's names were read out.
One user questioned: "WHY THE F**K HE PULLING THAT FACE DID HE ACC THINK HE WOULD WIN?"
Another penned: "'Here we go again, are you serious why can't Luca just be happy for Ekin and Davide for the rest of the show at least."
And a third added: "Luca thinking he had the win in the pocket lmao."
A fourth said: "Luca was mad and confused his face says it all you f***ing having a laugh. Lad can’t believe he didn’t win."
But other viewers were quick to defend Luca and called out the claims, suggesting it was not the case at all.
One fan said: "You lot all saying luca was jealous? Did you see the way he was gassing up davide and ekin on damis live? Doesn’t seem like a sore loser to me. Now he’ll show everyone his actual personality, not that s**t edited version."
Love Island: The Reunion airs Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
