Love Island's Gemma Owen sparks 'lie detector' demand from sceptical viewers

Gemma Owen is the focus of a plea from Love Island fans to stage the show's lie detector challenge much earlier than usual as they become increasingly convinced that Luca Bish knows who her dad is.

As soon as the line-up for the new series of the ITV show was announced at the end of last month, it was 19-year-old Gemma who got everyone talking, thanks to her dad being football icon Michael Owen One of the things that sparked the most curiosity was whether or not Gemma would reveal the identity of her dad or if the other Islanders would cotton on, particularly when she was asked on day one what her second name was.

Gemma has yet to let the cat out of the bag, although she did drop a huge hint during a conversation with Luca when she said her dad was "into football and horses," when the fishmonger asked if he'd get on with her family. And, with Gemma and Luca still going strong, despite the fact she's now coupled up with Davide again, some Love Island viewers are sceptical about Luca's intentions, arguing that he MUST know who Gemma's famous dad is.

And it's that inkling that has led to viewers calling on Love Island bosses to do the lie detector task ASAP. Taking to Twitter one wrote: Lie detector question : “does Luca know Michael Owen is Gemma’s dad?"

Another tweeted: "wish poor gemma could see that luca is clearly using her for the clout, and because of michael owen," and a third commented: "They need to do the how well you know your partner challenge because we need to know if Luca knows about Michael Owen."

Calling for the return of the lie detector, but to leave the questions in fans' hands, a fourth wrote: "they need to bring back the lie detector test and ask the public for the questions"
