Love Island viewers are declaring that Ekin Su and Davide’s win on Monday night was the perfect ‘revenge’ on their rivals who voted them least compatible just days before the final.
After eight weeks of coupling ups, recouplings, dumplings and drama, the latest series of the ITV dating show came to an end of Monday night, although there was a surprise for fans right at the start when host Laura Whitmore announced the usual ‘love or money’ ending had been axed.
In the hours running up to the Love Island final and with their odds of winning strengthening all the time, Davide was dubbed the ‘more likely ’ out of him and Ekin-Su to steal all the money but in the end they shared the £50,000 as Gemma and Luca finished second, Indiyah and Dami third and Tasha and Andrew fourth.

Ekin-Su when Laura revealed the result and her and Davide’s victory was a very popular one on social media, where fans delighted in the ‘iconic’ couple taking the crown.
And others said their win was the best slap in the face to the likes of Gemma and Luca who’d made nasty comments about the new champions just days earlier, with Ekin-Su and Davide also been voted as the 'least compatible' couple in the villa by the other pairs, just days before the finale.
Referencing that, one jubilant fan took to Twitter to write: “so satisfying and pleasing that ekin su won over gemma and luca like these two were such haters, b**ched about her and she won right in their faces.”
Thinking exactly the same thing, another reacted: “ Gemma and Luca were Ekin su’s biggest haters, this is AMAZINGGGGFFG,” with a third tweeting: “ You see when you’re not a hate and genuine - good things come to you. Just look at Ekin su and Davide.”
