Love Island's Davide shares comforting words to Ekin-Su after brutal Dancing On Ice axe

Davide Sanclimenti has revealed how he comforted his girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu after she was eliminated from Dancing on Ice over the weekend.

Love Island winner Davide, 28, was incredibly supportive of his girlfriend's participation in the ITV skating competition and even took part in one of her performances over the weekend as she danced to Car Wash.

However, 28-year-old Ekin-Su – whom Davide won the ITV dating show with after meeting and falling in love – sadly lost the skate off against EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer.

Ekin-Su was visibly tearful after she crashed out of the competition and even sparked hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to bend the rules and give her a hug.

She said: "You put so much time and all the other work and commitments I had at the time, this was my priority and I really gave everything to it. I love it and I fell in love with the ice."

Davide was seen giving his girlfriend a supportive round of applause in the audience.

Now in an exclusive chat with the Mirror, in collaboration with La Gioiosa Prosecco, the Love Islander has revealed how he supported his girlfriend this week following the emotional elimination.

When asked about her time on the show, Davide said: "I'm really proud of how she did because I remember when she started training she didn't know how to ice skate so, you know, I've been following her throughout the training I know how much effort she put into it.

"She was coming back home every evening: 'Baby, my legs hurt' and the day after another body part so I'm proud of what she did and I told her: 'It's still a reality TV show, do enjoy it, have fun you are there to entertain people so just have fun with it' how it goes, nobody knows.

"Now it went this way, but I told her: 'You still should be proud of yourself'. The first night [after the elimination] she was a bit sad but now she's OK."

When asked how Davide comforted his girlfriend, he said: "This is something I told her as well, she was putting a lot of emotion in the show – maybe because of the training she did before. I told her she was not showing her best self, her real personality because too much feeling was involved.

"After the show she was a bit vulnerable in terms of feelings, she was feeling a lot of what she was feeling in the show but now she's OK."

Davide paired up with La Gioiosa ahead of Valentine's Day, speaking about why it's the perfect addition to the romantic day, Davide said: "Usually, Valentine's Day is organised by the men so I would say to the boys, even if she's not a big drinker, you will be sure to give a good impression and get the romance in the air and she will love it!"
