Love Island 2022 winner Davide Sanclimenti has shared the sweet way he’s planning on spending his half of the £50,000 ITV2 winnings he bagged alongside girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
The 27-year-olds won both one another and the nation's hearts with their genuine relationship and entertaining back and forth throughout their time in the Mallorcan villa. Ekin-Su’s rollercoaster relationship with Davide, which had the couple dubbed 'your favourite divorced parents', won the two the title of Love Island winners of 2022.
And now that the show is over, the stars have been doing their rounds on morning talk shows and radio shows to discuss their time in the villa as well as their future plans. Davide has now shared his plans for their Love Island winnings, saying that while he plans to invest a portion of the winnings, he has earmarked the rest for a special trip.
During a Capital Radio appearance alongside Ekin-Su on Thursday, he said: “I’m going to buy a trip for my mum. We're thinking of going to New York, me and Ekin and our mums.”
Love Island's voting figures for this year's final revealed Ekin-Su and Davide were clear winners, storming to victory with a whopping 63.69% of the vote.
They were a clear mile from their runner-ups, and also the other two couples from the votes cast by the viewing public.
In second place was Gemma Owen and Luca Bish, who got 14.47% of the vote. Not far behind them was third place couple Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack, who got 11.77% of the public vote, and fourth place couple Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page received 10.07% of the vote.
After the announcement was made, Ekin-Su, 27, broke down in tears as Davide, also 27, gasped: "I can't believe it."
Ahead of the dramatic final, the bookies were backing Davide and Ekin-Su for the win to take home the prize money.
Unlike in previous years, the winning couple did not have to choose whether to split or steal the prize money.
For the finale episode, the villa garden was transformed for the Love Island 2022 summer ball. There were tears and emotional embraces as the finalists shared declarations of love in heartfelt speeches.
Ekin-Su admitted it had been “one hell of a ride” with Davide but added: “They say Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were we” before saying they were “soul mates”.
