Love Island star André Furtado has revealed that ITV banning loved ones from posting on his social media is a positive move.
In previous years, the social media accounts of Islanders have been updated by their nearest and dearest but last year, the network put a stop to this.
Ahead of the 2023 summer series, ITV announced that Islanders will pause all social media activity throughout their time on the programme to protect Islanders and their nearest and dearest from online trolling and the adverse effects of social media.
Singleton Andre, 21, who will make his debut in the Majorca villa during Monday night's launch episode believes this is a step in the right direction.
"[It's] amazing to be honest, I find it amazing," he told the Mirror before adding: "Although there was two different sides of the conversation, make a stance and potential growth, I'd rather look out for not only my wellbeing but my friends and families as well.
"So anything that would mitigate the downfall of their wellbeing, I'd love to prevent that by all means.
"I feel like this is the perfect way to do so."
The Dudley-born businessman continued: "Social media when it was present, although viewers would be watching the show and getting a feel for a contestant's personality, they will also be going on what has been said on social media.
"Although it's their surrounding friends or family, it's not the person themselves, so there might be opposing views of what the persona and the account handler might have that isn't derived from the contestant's personality.
"I feel like alongside that, the personality that they're seeing is solely mine and mine alone, I like that because people get a feel for me."
While André is on the hunt for love and hoping to impress the ladies by teaching them three languages, Portuguese, Spanish and a small bit of Creole, he explained his ideal date would be Beyoncé.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said: "Beyoncé, any age range, from her mid-20s, 30s, she's aged like fine wine.
"The reason why, is she seems like she's very down to earth and of course, her vocals are just amazing, I'll just be harmonising with her."
André believes it will be a "vibe" to teach his possible girlfriend his language which will be "nice" to open up his culture to his future girlfriend in the villa.
"All of those vibes help a lot to finalise the relationship," he said.
