Love Island star Adam Collard has hit back after fellow contestant Jacques O'Neill made a dig at his relationship with Paige Thorne. Prior to coupling up with Adam, Paige was with Jacques, who would sensationally quit the series of his own accord.
During an Instagram Live with Luca Bish on Sunday, August 7, Luca read out a fan question that asked: "What do you think of Adam and Paige's relationship?" Rugby player Jacques said of his ex's new relationship: "They seem to get on really well, they seem very happy together." This prompted Luca to quip: "Glad the mum approves, "to which Jacques joked: "Yeah, well her mum seems really fond of Adam so you know." During Love Island's annual 'family and friends' episode, Paige's mum told her that she didn't think he was being genuine.
Taking to Twitter to respond to Jacques' remarks, Adam wrote: "Humble in defeat our kid, chin up".

Paige and Adam's Love Island journey came to an end just short of the series final, after they were voted the 'least compatible' in a public vote. Despite their compatibility being called into question, the pair's relationship appears to have been growing from strength to strength following the end of the ITV2 dating series. Earlier this week, Adam shared that he'd enjoyed an ice cream in Mumbles with Paige.
In an exit interview after she and Adam were dumped from the villa, Paige admitted that she did consider leaving with Jacques. She said: "It did cross my mind a little bit to leave with him, but things hadn't been 100 per cent all the way through, and the fact that they weren't was what made me think." In Jacques and Luca's Instagram Live, he revealed that he hadn't spoken to Paige since the series ended.
On the same night, Adam told Love Island: The Reunion viewers that he would be coming to Wales "wrapped in a Welsh flag" in order to impress Paige's mum. You can read more about this here.
Adam and Paige finished in fifth on Love Island 2022, which saw Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti crowned winners. Meanwhile, Gemma Owen and Luca Bish placed runners-up, while Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope came third and Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page came fourth.
