Love Island is gearing up to come back to screens in less than eight weeks with a return date reportedly having been confirmed. The popular ITV2 dating show wrapped its winter series last month, but TV bosses reportedly have a slew of new Islanders looking for love already lined up.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of the popular summer series that would see the Islanders head off to Majorca with Maya Jama. Maya, 28, took over from host Laura Whitmore and was met by rave reviews from fans.
And she is reportedly buzzing to reprise her role again this summer, as the new series of Love Island is believe to be returning to screens on June 5, 2023.
A source told The Sun: “Love Island will start on June 5, just as people are getting ready to enjoy their summers. ITV have already lined up the islanders who will be heading to the show’s villa in Majorca.
"The cast will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks. It is hugely exciting and those working on the show cannot wait to get started.
The source added: “This series will be eight weeks long, meaning the couple who win the show will be in the villa for two months. Maya is chomping at the bit to get to work on this series too. Having her on board has given Love Island a real boost and it’s expected that ratings will soar.” A second source added: “The dates have not been officially confirmed.”
This news comes after Maya was forced to deny speculation she was dating Hollywood A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio. Rumours began to swirl after Maya and Leo were reportedly spotted leaving a party together in Paris, but the 28-year-old shut down the speculation.
The Love Island host took to social media to brand the rampant rumours 'silly' and went on to explain the true meaning behind her necklace - simply that 'Leo' is her star sign.
Speaking to her 697,000 followers, she wrote: "I’ve been minding my business on holiday & said I wouldn’t respond/pay attention to any of the silly stories anymore but you need to stop now, that is literally my star sign. We are not dating. Move on please."
