Fans of Love Island have been left in disbelief after producers put a Stormzy track in the background of tonight's show (Jan 18). Tonight's instalment of Love Island saw two new bombshells, Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown and David Salako shake things up in the villa as they went on dates with original contestants Tanya and Ron.
After getting texts, Tanya and Ron were ordered to go and get ready to leave the villa. They were then taken away to a romantic setting against the backdrop of the mountains, where newcomers Zara and David were waiting for them.
Love Island producers often play popular hits in the background of the show, matching the energy of what is happening. As Tanya and Ron got to know their bombshell dates, a Stormzy track played - but it wasn't any old Stormzy song.

Fans of the show were quick to point out that the Stormzy song that played was Hide and Seek, a 2022 release by the British rapper that is widely believed to be about his ex-girlfriend, Maya Jama. The couple dated between 2015 and 2019, and were rumoured to be back together shortly after Maya was announced as the next host of Love Island in October.
Rumours have since been officially quashed, with Maya confirming that she is 'really, really single' in a recent interview, but that hasn't stopped fans from mourning and yearning for the couple. Hide and Seek adopts a softer tone compared to other Stormzy songs, with the music video demonstrating about the eventual breakdown of a relationship between two characters as the rapper reminisces on what he once had in an apartment they used to share.
Viewers could not believe that Hide and Seek was played on Love Island just days after Maya made her debut as the show's new host. Ri Ri wrote on Twitter: "Love island are toxic, they’re playing Stormzy’s song dedicated to Maya Jama LOOOL."
Maya made her first appearance on Love Island earlier this week, donning three jaw-dropping looks for the series premiere. However, fans are missing her as she is yet to appear again, although it is hoped she'll be back later this week for a recoupling.
Love Island continues tomorrow night, January 19, on ITV2 and ITVX.
