Love Island's new bombshell is Scott Van Der Sluis. The 22-year-old from Connah’s Quay in North Wales is a footballer who currently plays for Irish Premier Division club Shelbourne as a goalkeeper.
Scott is set to make his appearance on Thursday, June 15, just days after fellow late arrivals Charlotte Sumner and Leah Taylor made their debuts and ruffled feathers in a recoupling with a twist. You can read more about this here.
Asked why he's decided to join the Love Island 2023 summer series, Scott, who describes himself as a flirt, said: "Football is all I’ve ever done, all I’ve ever known. So this is a new and exciting opportunity for a change-up in life."

On why he's still single, the new bombshell revealed: "I’ve been single through my own choice, as well as circumstances. I’ve moved around a lot with football and I’ve been based in Dublin playing football for over a year. I’ve been single for 3 and a half years so it’s been a while so I’m ready and open to anything!"
And sharing his claim to fame, Scott said: "I was the youngest goalkeeper to ever play with the Welsh national team! I also got a call when I was 16 and playing at Swansea from the Welsh goalkeeper coach inviting me to train with the first team. I got to sit and have dinner with Aaron Ramsey and the Welsh football team! I was in awe, when the year before they got to the Euro finals, they were my idols."
Ahead of his debut, Scott has said he's looking for "a girl with a strong personality, who’s independent and knows what they want," before admitting that he's a "slow burner" when it comes to falling in love.
On what he'll bring to the villa, Scott shared: "Energy. I’ll bring a bit of banter, be cheeky, and I’m a flirt! very, very strong personality so if I see anything I don’t agree with, there’ll definitely be fireworks!"
Scott said his family would say he's "very well-spoken and very diplomatic," and that he's a person friends can always turn to for advice. Asked what his ideal date would be if money was no object, Scott responded: "To go and watch the Champions League final with full hospitality."
