Love Island: Michael Owen breaks silence as daughter Gemma Owen gives lapdance on Love Island

Michael Owen has seemingly broken his silence on Love Island following a raunchy challenge that saw the contestants, including his daughter Gemma Owen, attempt to get their fellow Islanders' heart rates racing.

The former footballer's eldest daughter Gemma is a contestant on this year's show. The 19-year-old, who is an international dressage rider, was in the original 2022 line-up and is currently coupled up with Luca Bish.

Michael has kept his social media activity about the ITV2 dating programme to a minimum until now. But following the infamous heart rate challenge on Tuesday night's show, which saw the Islanders dress up in seductive outfits, the BT Sport pundit broke his silence.

The 42-year-old seemingly responded by posting an emoji with its eyes covered to his 3.7 million followers. The light-hearted tweet got a lot of laughs in response.

"Turn the TV off, pal," suggested one social media user, while another added: "Wrong night to tune in to Love Island."

Michael has previously spoken out about how he felt about Gemma entering the villa. Speaking to Mail Online, he said: "It's not something any father wants to watch, is it? I said to [my wife] Louise, 'do they really have to sleep together, like in the same bed?' She said 'yes'. I said 'I did not bank on this'."

He added: "Luckily for me, there was no physical contact. Gemma had her back to the guy. There was space between them. I thought, 'Good girl'. No father wants to see physical contact, do they? I certainly don’t.

"If there is physical contact I think I’ll be throwing something at the screen. I don’t want to see kissing. Do not make me see kissing."
