Love Island 2023 is in full swing but with an episode airing every night, it can be hard to keep up with the summer series, especially with instalments that air over the weekend. However, if you missed out on the shows on Friday, June 16, and Sunday, June 18, you missed out on some major drama.
On Friday ITV bosses revealed the results of a public vote with André Furtado, Sammy Root, and Zachariah Noble all vulnerable alongside Charlotte Sumner, Catherine Agbaje, and Leah Taylor. The Islanders who were safe then had to decide which girl and which boy to dump from the villa, which led to tears.
Fast-forward to Sunday's episode and a surprise twist saw a daytime recoupling rock the villa. Much to the surprise of the contestants, a text asked them the cast to line up in front of the fire pit with the boys choosing which girl to recouple with. All eyes were on Sammy as he decided whether to recouple with Jess Harding or Leah, while Welsh contestant Scott Van Der Sluis also made a decision after getting to know the girls.
And if that wasn't enough drama, Love Island's spin-off show, Aftersun, aired an exclusive clip that saw Sammy and Jess in a fiery argument before he gives her an ultimatum. The episode is due to air on Monday, June 19. Here's everything you need to know.
Who was dumped on Love Island?
Friday night's episode saw new bombshell Charlotte and original Islander André booted from the villa. The news left Catherine, who had been getting to know André in tears, as he said: "[He's] just gone… Like within the blink of an eye. I never thought it would be André going." She added: "It's just hard. It’s abruptly ended."
Leaving the villa, Charlotte said: "It's been short but sweet and I've appreciated every single one of you."
André added: "It doesn't feel best to be dumped from the Villa tonight, however, I've enjoyed the experience. Something I never thought I'd do and yeah, man, it's been amazing."
Who has recoupled with who?
Zachariah Noble and Molly Marsh
Medhi Edno and Whitney Adebayo
Sammy Root and Jess Harding
Mitchel Taylor and Leah Taylor
Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas
Scott Van Der Sluis and Catherine Agbaje
What was Monday's first look?
During the Aftersun that aired on Sunday, June 18, presenter Maya Jama gave fans an exclusive glimpse at the episode set to air on Monday, June 19. In the short clip Sammy could be seen giving Jess an ultimatum.
He said: "I'm not playing games. If you wanna play games then."
"I'm not playing games either," Jess responded and Mitch hit back: "You are. Why are you pulling Mitch instead of me this morning? First thing. It's like, come on."
"Because I wanted to talk to him," Jess simply replied.
Sammy then said: "I tried to clear things up. I said no grudges. I apologised for anything that might have upset you as I said 'can we move on?' and you get in bed and just turn your back on me. It's like why?"
Jess said: "This is a big thing for me. It makes me think, yeah. Is this going to be every girl that comes in now? Are you wanna get to know her and flirt with her? And I'm just going to be stuck there. Like a div."
"I'm not going through it again," Sammy pushed back. "We either leave it all here or it's done."
