Love Island has been hit with 69 complaints to Ofcom over Jacques O'Neill's treatment of Paige Thorne.
During the ITV show last week, there was a number of complaints made to the broadcast regulator in scenes which aired on June 28, the episode where the islanders took part in the infamous heart rate challenge.
The complaints are said to be about Jacques' comment to Paige as well as the heart rate challenge in general.
In the heart rate challenge, the Islanders had to dance for their respective partners - and all the other members of the opposite sex - but it caused quite a division as not everyone got the heart rate up of the person they wanted to most.
ITV have a strict procedure in place to protect the mental health and wellbeing of their contestants.
Ade Rawcliffe, Group Director of Diversity and Inclusion at ITV, said: "The world we live in is changing every day, and we want all of our Islanders to feel they are part of an inclusive environment in the Villa. As part of our duty of care process, it is also important we play our part in educating our participants to understand and empathise with different perspectives and lived experiences."
Paige was left fuming and upset after it was revealed that Jacques' heart rate soared the highest for his ex girlfriend Gemma Owen, whilst Gemma also was left red-faced when Jacques made her heart rate soar too.
But a lot of fans also reacted badly to Jacques' comments to Paige, as he told her she was "pathetic" when she shared her feelings.
Angry fans took to social media to slam his comment, calling it a "big red flag".
"The way Jacques is speaking to Paige? Big big red flag #Loveisland," one viewer wrote, as another added: "Seeing so many read flags from Jacques what the f***? Why does he talk to Paige like that? #LoveIsland."
It comes after yesterday's show, which saw Paige commit herself to Jacques as she refused to continue things with Billy.
"I know we’ve been getting on really, really well we’re like bantering and laughing and stuff but from my end I’ve been seeing it as a friendship, nothing else," she told him, "To be fair, my head is just definitely still with Jacques."
Billy appreciated her honesty, adding to her in a sweet comment: "Well I’m glad you’ve told me this because at the end of the day, we ain’t got long. But I appreciate you being honest, so it’s all good."
