Love Island Final: Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack finish in third place as winners revealed

Love Island stars Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack have finished the ITV2 show third after securing their place in the final, while Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti have claimed the top prize of £50,000 after they won the public vote.

However, Irish Love Island fans were left raging over the Dami and Indiyah coming in third place. One Twitter user said: "Dami and Indiyah deserved second place." Another person added: "Can't believe Indiyah and Dami are at third place [upside down smiling face]."

One upset viewer posted: "RECOUNT THOSE F***ING VOTES NOW." Many were just happy they were in the final and said: "Congratulations to Indiyah and Dami , they found love and I wish them both the best , I can see them lasting." Another person wrote: "Congrats Dami and Indiyah for third place."

After getting third place, Dami and Indiyah sat down to chat with Love Island host Laura Whitmore about their journey on the show. Indiyah joked she knew Dami was a 'bit of me' when he walked into the villa and she noticed his nipple piercing.

It comes after the couple faced an unexpected reception from their families on Meet the Parents day, as Dami was grilled by Indiyah’s mum and sister when they stepped into the Love Island villa. Indiyah's mum Dee even mistakenly called Dami by the name '‘Deji’, misnaming him for Casa Amor bombshell Deji Adeniyi, who Indiyah had recoupled with after Casa Amor.

After they clinched their place in the final, viewers were quick to recall the heated back-and-forth during their explosive Casa Amor split, where Indiyah scathingly quipped “may the best heartbreaker win”. The duo became firm fan favourites on the show, and Gambling company Betfred had the couple as 16/1 to win this year's series on Monday night – behind all the other remaining couples in the villa.

After the winning couple of Ekin-Su and Davide were called out by Laura Whitmore, Dami and Indiyah seemed to be delighted for their friends and gave them a group hug.
