Love Island fans spot sign Gemma and Luca were 'seething' about finishing second

Love Island viewers noticed Gemma and Luca failed to give the winners a hug after their crowning.

After Davide and Ekin-Su took home the crown, they embraced each other and struggled to hold back tears. As the other islanders and guests looked on at the new king and queen of Love Island, viewers noticed one pair appeared to be less than thrilled at the announcement.

Runners-up Gemma and Luca watched on as they celebrated but when Ekin-Su went in for a hug, she received a frosty response from Gemma. As Ekin-Su moved towards her with arms wide open, Gemma was seen placing her hands around her own waist and edging away.

Luca also failed to commend Davide as it appeared he gave no sign of a physical congratulations. Presenter Laura Whitmore remained between the couples but viewers claim there was very little attempt at a genuine connection as it is tradition the runners-up hug the winners.

One viewer said: "The fact that Ekin had to run to Gemma after the win was just mad…She’s thinking let me go hug my bestie and Gemma was just more concerned about her dress."

Another added: "Gemma couldn’t even be happy for Ekin. No hugs until Ekin went to her."

A third viewer said: "Gemma and Luca did not hug them when they won. The first time the 2nd place doesn’t hug 1st."

Another tweeted: "No cause I know Luca and Gemma are seething that Ekin Su won and I sleep peacefully at night knowing this."

The dry response comes after the couple were blasted all series long for their cold response to the winners. Throughout the show, both Gemma and Luca received comments they were mocking Ekin-Su and Davide along with Gemma "backstabbing" her as Ekin thought they built a genuine friendship.
