Love Island fans spot girls are 'fuming' and 'on verge of tears' over boys

After a year of Love Island drought, the hit ITV2 show finally kicked off last night - and it already looks as though storm clouds are brewing overhead.

Last night's twist sparked discord among the Islanders as the choice of how they would be paired up with was taken entirely out of their hands.

Instead, the public were left to decide who they wanted each of the Islanders to be paired up with.

And while the boys seemed fairly happy about their pairings, the girls clearly were not - with Gemma and Indiyah in particular looking unimpressed.

Fans flocked to Twitter to comment after spotting the upset looks on the girls' faces.

One tweeted: "All the boys are happy and the girls look like they’re on the verge of tears #loveisland."

While another commented: "the girls pretending to be happy with their couples #LoveIsland."

A third wrote: "Every single girl so far is FUMING with who they’ve been matched with."

One joked: "The girls waiting for a whole new group of men to walk in like… #loveisland."

Gemma caused among viewers last night with her brutal mugging off of Liam.

Michael Owen's daughter, 19, was not impressed when she was paired up with the Welsh student.

She made her dislike known and, as all of the Islanders played 'truth or dare', Gemma refused to kiss Liam - leading Paige to give him an awkward lap dance so that he didn't feel left out.

Earlier, she also mocked Luca's surname - and fans were not impressed.

Among those criticising Gemma was former Islander Marcel Somerville, who tweeted: "Yo can’t lie Gemma’s energy is mad! How she coming across like this on the first day! The rudeness #loveisland."

While Chloe Burrows wrote: "Gemma ur attitude STINKS mate #loveisland."

*Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2
