Love Island fans spot Gemma is 'itching' to name drop dad during telling chat

Love Island fans were convinced that Gemma Owen was "itching" to name drop her famous dad this evening during a very telling chat.

The ITV2 show's 2022 series launched this evening, complete with a brand new set of sexy singletons hoping to find love.

Among them was Gemma, who has admitted that her famous footballer dad Michael Owen wasn't exactly buzzing after discovering that she would be appearing on the show.

Tonight, Gemma didn't seem too happy as she was paired up with Liam - and even less so when they got chatting one-to-one.

As he began speaking about football, it became clear to viewers that Gemma was desperate to let slip who her dad was.

One tweeted: "Gemma is sooo blunt!! She was trying so hard not to drop her Dad’s name in #LoveIsland."

While another joked: "Gemma trying not to tell people who her dad is #LoveIsland."

A third quipped: "Gemma was begging to talk about her dad #LoveIsland."

Another commented: "Gemma nearly popping a vein trying to stop herself from saying who her dad is #loveisland."

Sharing a photo of Marcel Somerville, one tweeted: "“Don’t tell anyone, but Michael Owen is my dad init” #loveisland."

Ahead of entering the villa, the international dressage rider and business owner, 19, confessed that the England star wasn't too pleased about her taking part.

It comes after it was revealed that he has left the country as the show launches tonight.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Gemma said: "I still wouldn't say he was buzzing about the fact, but he is very supportive in whatever I decide to do so he didn't have a massive tantrum or anything like that. He was pretty chilled.

Also speaking of mum Louise, she said: "They trust me not to do anything to embarrass them, so I don't think I would have sex in the villa."

Gemma further commented: "[My dad] said, 'You know how to behave. You just go and do it'. My mum's bit of advice was, 'Gem, remember to keep it classy'."
