Love Island was back on Tuesday night as the recoupling was looming despite the islanders being blindsided as they were pulled around the firepit.
A surprise text revealed it was up to the boys to choose which girl they decided to couple up with.
The night kicked off with Scott making a beeline for Casa Amor girl Abi who found an instant spark with Mitch. The Welshman had been lingering around the villa single for weeks although Abi said she was "really getting on" with Mitch.
"Our babies would be unbelievable," chimed Scott as he attempted to get his grafting boots going in full-swing before the islanders were interrupted by Jess receiving a text to get around the firepit immediately.
The message read: “Islanders, it’s time to recouple. The boys will now pick which girls they want to recouple with.”
In the first recoupling since Casa Amor and Movie Night it was the girls who looked notably nervous and uncomfortable at the shock twist.
Zach was first to choose and he decided to couple up with Molly again, who made a sensational return to the ITV dating show after being dumped when her man was stolen by Kady's arrival.
Scottish model Ella and Tyrique were also reunited as a couple despite her taking back fellow Scots Ouzy from Casa Amor.
Lochan melted fans with his speech to Whitney, as he said: "I genuinely feel there is a future with this girl and I would like to see what the next chapter is together."
Sammy admitted he was "hard work" as he thanked Jess for "putting up with him" explaining he would like to make things "exclusive and close things off."
Meanwhile, Mitch and Abi stuck in a couple together, alongside Leah and Montel as Scott was left to be paired with Casa Amor girl Amber. She was left standing as he awkwardly admitted "if things had gone different I would have went with someone else."
And fans took to Twitter to react to the recoupling, as they noticed producers missed a trick with a perfect opportunity to stir the pot with some drama by letting Scott go before Mitch meaning he could have stolen Abi first.
One fan questioned: "So why didn’t they let Scott go before Mitchel and cause drama?? #LoveIsland," as someone else fumed: "You stupid producers had a missed opportunity to have Scott go before Mitchel #LoveIsland."
Someone else quipped: "What was the point of this recoupling if it was gonna be this boring and predictable? #LoveIsland."
Another wrote: "the producers had one job like they could’ve had the drama if they let scott couple up with abi #LoveIsland," as another fan chimed: "Producers???? WHAT IS THIS, Oh so you never want to see scott be happy, Oh so you all hate happiness #LoveIsland."
Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX each weeknight and Sundays at 9pm.
