Love Island fans 'screaming' as Davide 'pies' Gemma Owen

Love Island fans were "screaming" during an excruciating conversation between Davide Sanclimenti and Gemma Owen in Thursday's episode.

Michael Owen's daughter was initially paired with Liam Llelwyn on season eight of the popular dating programme. However, the show was rocked by drama when she recoupled with Davide.

The decision was hit by controversy as fans criticised the eight year age gap between Davide, 27, and Gemma, 19. The two received a message in Wednesday's show to inform them they would be going on their first date.

Viewers cringed through the "awkward" date, and things then went from bad to worse. Thursday's episode saw Gemma ask Davide how he would describe her to others who hadn't met her.

He responded with silence, struggling to think of a single word. Eventually, he said she was "beautiful" before more hesitation. He then added she "knows what she wants and doesn't take any s***".

Davide also said: "You like it when I give you attention, probably but not too much". Gemma said: "Well, nice chat".

Love Island fans were quick to share their opinions of the interaction on Twitter. Shawna said: "Yet another example of a woman asking a dude for the bare minimum and he flat out refuses."

Will said: "I bet you Davide will be able to describe the new girls in three words when they walk in". Jenn said: "Davide talks to Gemma like she's a child. HELP", while Lidz said: "No as if he has just pied her in front of the nation I am SCREAMING".
