Love Island fans have been left reeling about how this year's starting line up were plucked for the show.
With more than 100,000 toned singletons flooding producers with applications to step into the villa in towering wedges or designer flip flops producers will have been spoilt for choice for those looking for love.
But despite the choice only three original Islanders were plucked from those actively applying - the rest were handpicked by producers.
Although the number stunned fans when it was published by Mail Online, it isn't the lowest number of applicants used in any series. Back in 2019, Amy Hart was the only OG who bothered to apply - and she left early after Curtis Pritchard dumped her for Maura Higgins.
This years three who applied were hot paramedic Paige Thorne, 24, estate agent Andrew Le Page, 27, and microbiologist Dami Hope, 26.
Those approached included Micheal Owen's daughter Gemma and the first deaf contestant Tasha Ghouri.
A source told MailOnline: "There were almost 100,000 applications this year, which is about the same as most years, but the final cast doesn’t reflect that."
Although it is not clear if bombshells and those in Casa Amor could have been plucked from the application process.
Fans took to Twitter to praise the shows inclusion and those who had "real" jobs outside of influencing but some added: "I don't get why they can't pick from those who want to go on the show."
Some of ITVs stars from Love island were asked to go on the show multiple times, Olivia Attwood and winner Liam Reardon.
A Love Island spokesman said: "All Islanders would go through the same process before entering the villa, whether they apply or are approached."
