Love Island producers are 'heavily involved' in what goes down in the villa, a source has claimed.
The team working on the ITV2 show reportedly once stepped into the villa in South Africa at one point this year, as the male residents weren't playing by the rules.
As far as Love Island viewers are aware, the contestants only speak to producers during daily briefings in the morning and during scheduled visits to the Beach Hut, where they can speak freely without other islanders present.
But an insider has claimed lots goes on between producers and the stars that doesn't make it to TV screens.
"The producers are very heavily involved in pretty much all of it. They spend majority of their time watching everything through the gallery and they talk to the islanders through the tannoy," the source claims.
"For example they will call out an islanders name and say, 'Can you come to the beach hut and speak about this, or this person."
Speaking to the Daily Star, the insider then went on to claim producers actually entered the villa at one point during this a past series when the boys refused to speak to a new bombshell.
The source explains how the boys introduced themselves to the new female arrival but no one was up for pulling the bombshell for a chat as "no one fancied her" - even going as far as sitting on the terrace and "slating this girl" instead.
"So then the producers had to come up to the villa to speak to the lads and be like, 'Look, lads, you can't be talking like that. You've all got to go and make and effort with this girl'," the source continues.
They add how the boys had to go crack on with the unnamed girl "against their will" but "literally none of them fancied her".
The source alleges producers had to beg the male islanders to strike up a conversation with the female bombshell.
