A Love Island producer has shared with fans how he'd "love" to make an 'All Stars' spin-off series of the popular dating show. Executive producer of the reality series, Mike Spencer, spoke to fans in a Q&A session on Reddit on Wednesday where he explained his personal hopes for the future show.
It would see some of the viewers favourite islanders being given a second opportunity to find love in the villa. The reality TV show's producer told fans to "Ask Me Anything" as he took to the forum site answering a wide range of questions from fans excited for the return of the hit ITV2 show, The Mirror reported.
It came about after a fan asked if Love Island bosses would consider "bringing back the legendary Celebrity Love Island". Mike replied that he would "love" to reunite some of the series' past stars.
"That would be a question for the channel," the producer explained, hinting that ITV would need to make the final call on any future spin-offs, before adding "I would personally love to make an ‘All stars’ in the future with past Islanders across all series. What do you think?".
The dating series has already seen former stars including Molly-Mae Hague, Amber Davies, Kem Cetinay, Maura Higgins, Ovie Soko, Alex George, and Dani Dyer shoot to fame after exiting the villa. Who knows, some could potentially be up for returning to the island for a second time.
In response to Mike's reply, fans were excited at the prospect, with one saying: "That would be my DREAM!!! Please make it happen!!". Another posted: "As long as you bring [back] our queen Maura it'd be amazing!".
It was confirmed on May 24 that the eighth series of the ITV2 show would be returning on June 6. In a post to the 1.2million followers of the Love Island UK official Twitter, the announcement read: "Here's your first hot date of the summer. Love Island is back Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub!". In addition to a new villa, which will be unveiled this series, it was recently announced that this year's contestants will be wearing second hand clothes for the first time - in a bid to ditch fast fashion and be more eco-friendly.
Love Island returns to ITV2 on Monday, June 6 from 9pm.
