Love Island has attracted the offspring and relatives of many famous names, such as Gemma Owens last year, Tommy Fury back in 2019 and Dani Dyer in 2018, just to name a few. But one name we’re unlikely to see on the show is Lexi Huges, if her mother has anything to do with the matter.
The BGT judge shared her thoughts with fellow Heart Breakfast show host Jamie Theikson, who also wouldn’t want his kids appearing on the show. Amanda said she doesn’t want her daughter, aged just 17, “anywhere near” the ITV2 dating show.
And the reasons behind the presenter’s adamant refusal of her daughter’s appearance on the show are pretty straightforward - she doesn’t believe the show is really for love, just for finding fame.

Amanda said “It’s just another way of being famous isn’t it really. It’s not really about love. It’s just about looking hot and just getting involved…it’s just amazing telly but it's not really for love so I don’t want my daughter anywhere near.”
As fellow Heart presenter Ashley Roberts pointed out there have been a few beautiful love stories that have come from the show, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury being one of the most successful couples, but very few have actually gone the distance.

Love Island has become a fan favourite show over the past five years, especially in the younger demographic, so it’s no surprise that Amanda’s daughter likes to watch the show. Amanda further shared that her daughter's obsession with the show worries her slightly when she sees other celebrity’s kids, like Gemma Owens, going on the show.
So far this year’s winter series is yet to feature a famous face but it has been packed full of drama and we’re not even halfway through.
