Love Island 2023: What happened in episode two?

Winter Love Island has kicked off on ITV2 and promises to bring all the best features of the summer version, the romance, the drama and the tense fire pit scenes. A whole new cast of singles has entered the brand new South African villa looking for love, but if you missed the second installment of the romantic reality show, we've got a catch-up here.

Episode two (airing Tuesday, January 17) was full of tentative romance as the Islanders continued to get to know each other. The previous evening's (Janaury 16) episode ended with host Maya Jama introducing the first bombshell Tom Clare.

Tom entering the villa means that one boy will be left single and Tom had 24 hours to decide who he wants to couple up with. This played out over the second episode of the new series. Over at the fire pit, Tom asked: 'How are you guys in your couples?' to which Tanya replied: 'Everyone is still getting to know each other.'

Olivia Hawkins also showed her interest in Tom as she gushed: 'Oh my god, the height on Tom is very nice. Who doesn't like a six-foot-five man?" Then the Islanders were challenged to a game of dares with Tom dared to kiss the three women he fancied the most.

Tom chose Tanyel, Lana Jenkins and Olivia while Will Young who is coupled up with Olivia was forced to look on. Will also busted some interesting dance moves when dared to danced in front of the other Islanders.

Lana also suffered some embarrassment during her dance routine when her black mini-skirt split down the middle, while she aimed to be sexy. She said: "Oh my god my skirt right down the middle, right down my crack!".

Elsewhere in the second episode Tanya Manhenga, who is coupled up with Shaq Muhammed, turned Shaq down after he asked he if could kiss her. Although their romance is going well Tanya told Shaq he would have to wait.

Talking to the girls the next morning, Tanya said: "He was like, I want my own kiss now. We were close. I was like, no, I think you'll have to wait." however this has not put Shaq off as he told Ron: "If I'm being honest, the more I see her, the more I'm feeling her. We've barely spoken today but when I look at her I'm like, I'm feeling you."

During the series' first challenge, the truth came out when the rest of the Islanders found out that Lana had had sex in a cinema toilet. In the game, where the contestants slide down into a pool of foam where they found props giving them clues to the other person's racy secrets, with the question then written on an underpants-shaped board and they then had to kiss the islander who they thought the secret belonged to, also revealed that Olivia had a catfish account to stalk a guy and Haris has had a foursome.

At the end of the episode Tom had to make his choice about which girl to couple up with. He chose Olivia leaving Will, who was coupled up with Olivia, single and at risk of being dumped from the island. Luckily for Will two new bombshells, David Salako and Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown, are heading into the villa.

Tune in to the next episode of Love Island at 9pm tonight, January 18, on ITV2 and ITVX
