Love Island 2023: ITV start date 'confirmed' as this year's contestants are rumoured to be entering the villa

It's nearly time for one of the greatest summer viewings to return to our screens, as fans will soon be able to get their reality show fix with Love Island 2023 looming around the corner and another batch of singles looking to find their match.

We reported previously that ITV teased the return of Love Island earlier this month, which left some fans baffled with it making a comeback so soon. The winter spin-off show only finished in March, which saw Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan crowned the winners in Cape Town.

And although The Spanish series won't be landing this month like many speculated following the cryptic hint which sported a photo of host Maya Jama, fans of the reality show can look forward to it returning in just a matter of weeks.

The dash to the sofa each night at 9pm will return as another seasons of singles dig out their best swimwear to impress in their bid to find love in the Majorca sun.

Here's everything we know so far about Love Island 2023, its potential return date and who could be appearing in this series.

When is Love Island returning?

Love Island is reportedly back for its 2023 summer season in just two weeks time on June 5, according to reports in The Tab. the programme is reported to have been scheduled to run for a shorter period of eight weeks than its usual 10-week stint despite ITV bosses yet to confirm the shake-up.

It means the Islanders heading into the Spanish villa could spend two months on the show. "It is exciting and those working on the show cannot wait to get started,” a source told The Sun.

They added that the show’s host, Maya Jama, is “chomping at the bit to get to work” on the tenth season after she made a very successful debut on the winter series earlier this year.

The 28-year-old television personality is said to have given the ITV show a “boost” and ratings are expected to “soar” despite last season’s finale scoring the lowest rating numbers for seven years.

Where will this year's summer edition take place?

In its very notable usual lavish location, Love Island’s tenth season will take place in the large six-bedroom Majorca mansion.

The luxurious pad is reportedly worth £2.57 million, boasting a 20-metre swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen, and not forgetting the show’s famous fire pit, where some of the juiciest conversations are had and the drama of the re-couplings go down.

Who will be taking part?

With the latest series only a few weeks away, ITV bosses have reportedly already finalised who will be entering the villa this year, although they are speculated to make a full announcement in a matter of days.

According to the source who spoke to The Sun, those appearing are expected to be jetting across to the Spanish island any day now.

This Morning host Alison Hammond's 18-year-old son reportedly was approached by show producers to take part in this year's series, but turned the opportunity down.

Meanwhile, it has been strongly suggested that TikTok star Molly Marsh, whose mum Janet Marsh has starred in Coronation Street, has been described as a “shoo-in” for the upcoming series.

“After going through the process, she’s now a shoo-in to fly to Mallorca later this month. She is a star on the rise and comes from a showbiz family,” a source told The Sun. “Molly has made it clear she’s got what it takes to make a bang and ITV love her.”
