Love Island 2023 confirmed couples as Anna-May and Olivia left single in awkward scenes

Love Island is back for 2023 and this year's original Islanders have coupled up for the first time. The winter edition of the popular ITV2 dating show kicked off on Monday, January 16 at 9pm with new presenter Maya Jama at the helm.

The episode saw this year's 10 new contestants meet for the first time in the luxury new villa in South Africa. In a twist, the boys entered the villa first while the girls were given power to pick who they wanted to couple up with.

As the boys, Shaq, Haris, Will, Ron, and Kai, stood poolside, Maya said: "Well boys, it is time to couple up, the girls will come in one by one and I'll ask you to step forward if you fancy them. Each girl will then decide which boy she wants to couple up with. It’s that simple. So who’s ready to meet our first girl?"
