Love Island 2023 cast: Molly Marsh's job, age, famous mum and Instagram

The latest series of Love Island kicked off last night with another 10 contestants looking for love.

This season of the ITV show, which is set in Majorca, features musical theatre performer and social media creator Molly Marsh. The 21-year-old from Doncaster had already visited the legendary villa before this season started through her line of work.

As reported by the MEN, she said: "With my job being in social media, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to go on press trips and I’ve actually been out to the Love Island villas in Majorca and South Africa. Having the experience to walk around both was amazing but to now actually live in the Villa is going to be incredible."

It is not Molly's only claim to fame and watching her from home will be her famous mum. Molly is the daughter of Janet Marsh who has appeared in Coronation Street in three separate roles over the years. Janet first starred on the soap in 2005 as a nurse and followed this by playing a receptionist at the Scott-Roe Clinic in March 2008.

The last time Janet appeared on Corrie was in 2009 playing an ITU nurse. Janet is also known for her TV work on Where The Heart Is, Bodies, In The Dark, Love, Lies and Records, Still Open All Hours and the short film Cerulean.

Molly lives on a farm with her mum, dad, sister, grandma, grandad, aunty, uncle, cousin, cousin’s husband, their baby and chicken. When asked why she is taking part in Love Island, she said: "I think it’s ideal timing and the perfect way to find someone. I don’t go out and party and I don’t use dating apps, I’m actually quite old-fashioned, so there’s no better way to meet someone by going into a villa in the sun with the potential ‘one’ in there."

Ahead of the launch of the series, Molly claimed that she would bring fun, bubbly and energetic little sister energy into the villa. She said she is up for a laugh and describes herself as spontaneous and adventurous. She also revealed that her friends and family think she is mischievous, cheeky, weird and sometimes a bit of a bossy diva.

She said her ideal first date would be a picnic by the beach - and maybe even a skydive. Molly has an Instagram account (@mollygracemarsh) and in the week ahead of Love Island she had 42,400 followers.

Molly is one of 10 singletons in the villa. Joining her is André Furtado, Ella Thomas, George Fensom, Ruchee Gurung, Catherine Agbaje, Tyrique Hyde, Medhi Edno, Jess Harding and Mitchel Taylor.

Maya Jama has returned as host presiding over all of the villa action, while comedian and narrator Iain Stirling has reprised his voiceover role. Love Island is shown every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
