Love Is Blind's Abhishek 'Shake' has no regrets about savage behaviour towards ex Deepti

Love Is Blind's Abhishek 'Shake' Chatterjee is not ashamed of his behaviour towards Deepti Vempati on the dating show.

The Netflix star has come under fire from fans after several scenes showed him speak negatively about 31-year-old Deepti - who he was engaged to on the show - behind her back.

Making it clear that he is not fussed about the backlash, the 33-year-old told critics that he will not apologise for how he acted on the reality series and will not 'pretend to be sad or sorry' in a video shared onto his Instagram page on Tuesday.

Shake defended himself in the clip and said he "handled the situation as best as anybody in my situation could".

Addressing his followers shirtless, he told fans: "I mentioned earlier that there are certainly things that I want to work on for myself or get better at but one thing I don't feel inclined to do is to pretend I'm sad or sorry about certain things — certain things that were out of my control, certain things that I can't necessarily even speak about."

He added: "I think I handled the situation as best as anybody in my situation could."

Appearing to put the experience behind him, Shake ended the message: "And at the end of the day, I'm going to live my best life going forward. And you don't have to like me. Only I have to like me, thankfully. And that's real life."

Shake captioned the video: "And that's just real life" with a man shrugging emoji.

Confident Shake has been blasted on social media following the second series of Love Is Blind streaming as he often expressed that he did not feel a strong physical attraction to Deepti but admitted they had a good emotional connection.

In one instance he said Deepti was like he was with his aunt during a chat with fellow castmate Jarrette Jones.

After the series aired, Deepti - who decided against marrying Shake on the series finale - shared that she was really hurt when she watched back the show.

Speaking with Buzzfeed, she said : "Shake and I had conversations about how physical intimacy and that chemistry was lacking between us.

"But to watch it back and see how he did it — it was kind of like, 'Oh, look at me, I'm this cool dude that's just gonna talk s**t about you to my friends.

"You don't talk about somebody who is your fiancé, let alone a best friend — or even just a real friend — that way."

She added: "It was kind of disappointing and hard to watch, especially because my parents were so impacted by it. We welcomed him into our home.'

Love Is Blind is an unusual dating show that sees 30 men and women try to build connections and find the love of their life by speaking to them through a wall in their individual pods, without being able to see the other person.

Some of the cast members then take the plunge and propose before ever setting eyes on one another before going on honeymoon and attempting to live life as a couple in front of the cameras.

If they make it to the end of the experience they then meet at the altar and decide whether to become husband and wife.

*Love Is Blind is available to stream now on Netflix.
