About 70,000 Louisiana Medicaid members who get care through Ochsner Health appear set to keep in-network access after their health plan and the health system reached terms to stay together. State lawmakers learned of the deal just before the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget voted Oct. 15 to renew Louisiana's private Medicaid contracts, the Louisiana Illuminator reported. The terms have not been made public.
The development matters most for families in areas where Ochsner is a main source of hospital and clinic care. Ochsner owns facilities in nearly every region of the state, and many members had been told their Ochsner doctors could fall out of network.
