This could be the second time a character played by the acting star will be killed off in Emmerdale. As some fans know, Louise, 72, previously portrayed Sharon Crossthwaite in 1973 - when the soap was known as Emmerdale Farm.

Sharon was killed off brutally on the soap, with the character raped and murdered by Jim Latimer played by Myles Reitherman, who was arrested and received a life sentence.

Louise said: “I think she was the first woman to die in the soap. My claim to fame.”

During her time speaking to presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary Louise spoke about how the show has changed over the decades. Louise said: “It was very different. It was much more outside and we used the actual village. We had rehearsal.”
