Louis Walsh and TikTok star Keilidh Cashell join judging panel for Junk Kouture final

Preparations for the Junk Kouture final are well underway as creative students across the country are set to battle it out and showcase their designs.

Junk Kouture is a youth sustainable fashion competition which participants design, create and model fashion, made from recycled items.

The competition has run in Ireland, since it was founded in 2010.

The winning designs will compete against fifty other teams from Abu Dhabi, London, Paris, Milan and New York on a global stage to become the second ever World Designer of the Year.

Panelist Keilidh Cashell (Junk Kouture)

This year makeup artist Keilidh Cashell will join radio DJ Tara Kumar, fashion designer Stephen McLaughlin and Louis Walsh as they search for the top 10 designs to represent Ireland at the World Final.

Keilidh Cashell is known around the world for her incredible makeup tutorials and viral videos that have seen her amass three million followers on social media.

The owner of Kash beauty was a guest judge on Glow Up Ireland meanwhile, BBC Radio One host Tara Kumar, who is known for her vibrant style and love for a vintage piece of clothing, is no stranger to Junk Kouture as she selected the RTÉ Wildcards in 2021.

Speaking on being chosen as a panelist this year Keilidh said that she loves the sustainable messaging that Junk Kouture promotes.

She also said it was a 'pinch me' moment that she would be working with Louis Walsh.

She said: “I love everything about Junk Kouture, from the sustainable messaging to the celebration of individuality. I am all about those little finishing details that elevate a look to the next level so I will have my eyes peeled for someone who has gone that extra mile to make their design stand out.

"If I had any advice for the finalists, I’d say seize the moment – much like with my videos, you only have a short window on stage to make an impression so make the most of it! And I have to say… I grew up watching the X-Factor so the fact I am now sitting on the same judging panel as Louis Walsh is a bit of a pinch me moment!”

A limited number of tickets remain for the event, available from Ticketmaster.

Doors open at 5.30pm with the show kicking off at 7.30pm.
