Bayern Munich and Germany legend Lothar Matthaus has heaped praise on Liverpool's departing star Sadio Mane.
Mane is on the verge of joining Bayern after the Reds accepted a third bid of £27.4million upfront and a potential £7.7m in add-ons. The move will end his six-year stay at Anfield having arrived from Southampton and helped Jurgen Klopp's side lift every major trophy available to them including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Mane's pace, finishing and skill will be sorely missed on Merseyside and with the Bundesliga champions set to sign one of the best forwards on the planet at the moment, Matthaus said that the move is not just good for his former club but the entire German top flight.

“The signing of Sadio Mane is fantastic – not just for FC Bayern, but for the entire Bundesliga," the World Cup winner told Sky Sports. "The fact that such a great footballer will play in our league is just class.
“Mane is an exceptional player and a difference-maker. He has provided goals and assists with Liverpool in a way and with a regularity that few other players in the world have been able to match in recent years.”
Mane will be replaced at Liverpool by Darwin Nunez, who signed from Benfica last week for a fee that could be worth up to £85m.
Nunez's arrival was followed up with Calvin Ramsey joining from Aberdeen and seemingly putting an end to the Reds' incoming business this summer.
