'Lost the plot!' - Manchester United fans say the same thing after Fulham trio sent off

Manchester United fans were left perplexed after extraordinary scenes developed during the second half of Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

After falling 1-0 down just five minutes into the start of the second half, courtesy of a close-range finish from Aleksandar Mitrovic, United were presented with the opportunity to get themselves back on level terms with just under 20 minutes of normal time left on the clock. Substitute Antony led a Reds counter-attack, slipped in Jadon Sancho, who rounded goalkeeper Bernd Leno, and saw an effort blocked on the line by Willian.

United's players, coaching staff and supporters were immediately infuriated by Willian's block, convinced that he had stopped Sancho's effort from going in with his arm. Referee Chris Kavanagh initially signalled for a corner, only for VAR to intervene and order him to go over to the pitchside monitor and review the decision.

Meanwhile Cottagers boss Marco Silva was also dismissed for protesting on the touchline, meaning the Londoners had two players and their head coach sent-off within the space of just 40 seconds.

Marcel Sabitzer, less than two minutes later, then put Erik ten Hag's side in front with a close-range finish, scoring his first Reds goal. Fernandes scored his second in the dying moments to finish off Fulham.

Unsurprisingly, United's fans, amid all of the chaos, took to social media to reflect on the drama that unfolded. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what they had to say:
