In a year when many Australian music festivals have been sent packing, Lost Paradise is here to prove that the show must go on! After a wild rollercoaster ride with their ticketing platform, Lyte, the festival team has found a way to keep the party alive.
For those who may not be in the loop, Lyte recently shut down without a trace — except for a “Be Back Soon” message on their website that gave us absolutely nothing. The company took with it a substantial amount of ticket funds.
Lost Paradise’s Instagram announcement laid it out clearly: “Before shutting down, Lyte diverted 100% of Lost Paradise ticket funds into a bank account outside of our control, then transferred them offshore out of our reach.”
This left the festival without access to millions of dollars, despite having sold almost all of their 2024 tickets.
The impact was felt widely, with major events like Coachella, Pitchfork and Rabbit Eats Lettuce also caught in this ticketing mess. But instead of throwing in the towel, the small team at Finely Tuned decided to fight back.
“Despite our best efforts through lawyers and the Courts, we have been unable to gain access to the ticketing money,” they explained.
Yet they remained determined: “Our small, eight-person strong team… set out to source enough funding to enable us to operate the 2024 festival.”
And guess what? They succeeded! In their announcement, they expressed their excitement: “Today, we are thrilled to announce we have pulled off exactly that,” confirming that Lost Paradise 2024 is set to run from December 28 to January 1, 2025. This years festival marks the tenth anniversary for Lost Paradise, so this is a huge win!
