Liverpool was once home to a restaurant where you could get your hands on a pizza for just 1p.
The ECHO recently wrote an article about Pizzaland where customers could enjoy the "pizza for a penny" scheme in the 1980s and 1990s. In exchange for a coupon, customers who purchased a pizza could obtain another of equal or lesser value for just 1p.
The restaurant was in a prime city centre location based on bustling Lime Street. Coupons could be found in the local paper and cut out, or were handed out in the restaurant.

You've been sharing your memories of Pizzaland in the comments section underneath the original article and over on our Liverpool memories and history Facebook page.
Underneath the article, one comment reads: “Always loved a visit to Pizzaland, the pizzas were decent and the Garlic Mushrooms as starters were always delicious. The Pizza for a penny deal was great, always made full use of that. Sometimes if you were lucky you'd also get a voucher for a bottle of wine for a penny as well, but not too surprisingly, they didn't appear in the papers that often.”
A second reader wrote: “History for me was the Pizzaland platter. Half a salami and onion pizza, baked spud and coleslaw. Delish. Miss those days.” Someone replied: “Aww, loved the baked potatoes with the coleslaw too. Happy memories.”
Another person simply added: “What a blast from the past, loved Pizzaland.”
Someone else recalled: “I remember getting an egg and bacon pizza mid 70s - was boss!”
In our Liverpool memories and history Facebook page, Tony commented: “My mates and I used to visit there [in the] early 80s at the end of a sesh. The boss was getting transferred to Birmingham, so he asked us to empty the barrel of sangria from behind the counter. A stay behind in a pizza restaurant - brilliant! The food was decent, but [in the] late 80s I went to Cheltenham races with mates and we tried Pizzaland and it was disgusting.”
