Lost 1990s Liverpool nightclub people travelled 'far and wide' to visit

If you enjoyed a night out in Aintree in the 1990s, it’s more than likely you boogied the night away at Paradox nightclub.

The venue opened in the iconic Art Deco building on Ormskirk Road in 1991 and welcomed thousands of Merseyside clubbers every week before its closure in 2001. Many DJs had weekly sets at Paradox, providing the soundtrack to many nights out.

Singers and bands often performed at the Aintree club in front of excited fans. In 1995, electronic dance group Alex Party and the band Clock performed at Paradox, and in 1996, Eurovision hopeful Gina G took to the stage.
