Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis filmed ignoring LeBron James breaking NBA record

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis gave a very peculiar response with LeBron James shaping up to score and make NBA history.

James needed 38 points to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record which has held for almost 40 years, and scored 36 by the third quarter.

In the dying seconds of the third, James received the ball and backed his defender down with thousands in attendance getting out of their seat and recording what could be the historic moment. But Davis sat down and did not even care to watch or get up after James made the shot - the shot which meant he had become the all-time scorer in NBA history.

It was a strange reaction from Davis, who has been James' teammate since 2019 - when 'The King' had identified him as the man the team should go for - trading a haul of assets and players to acquire him.

James and Davis won a championship in 2020 - bringing the Lakers their first in 10 years, but since then it's been tough going.

After finishing with the eighth seed the following season and being bounced out of the playoffs in the first round, the Lakers missed the playoffs last season in a woeful campaign.

This year, so far, has been even worse. Only six teams in the league have a worse record than them, as they are now four wins outside of a playoff spot.

This, has brought several trade rumours their way, with James being very vocal on wanting the team to make a move.

That could even mean moving on from Davis, who is by far their biggest trade asset, and could fetch in the likes of Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant.

Davis, when healthy, is one of the best players in the league, but has greatly struggled with injuries throughout his career, leaving James to carry the load.

Davis' response to the moment could have just been because the big man had just come off the floor and was tired, but it was still a strange reaction to what all basketball fans would have loved to be able to witness, and will do nothing to kill any trade rumours.

The deadline to make any deals will close on Thursday evening.
