A lorry has overturned in a rush hour crash on the M8 this evening.
Emergency services raced to the busy motorway at Hermiston Gait in Edinburgh after the alarm was raised at around 4.15pm on Tuesday, August 23. The eastbound slip road from the Gogar Roundabout to the A720, City Bypass, is currently closed.
The M8 remains open by traffic is likely to be slow on approach. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
Traffic Scotland raised the alarm on Twitter as they posted an image of the crash. The black lorry is seen overturned on the road while passers-by assist.
The nature of any injuries as a result of the crash are so far unclear.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Due to an overturned lorry on the M8 at Hermiston Gait, the eastbound slip road from the Gogar Roundabout to the A720, City Bypass, is closed.
"The M8 remains open but traffic may be slow moving in the area. Drivers are urged to avoid if possible."
