Fire tore through a heavy goods vehicle on the M62 last night (Monday January 30), forcing the motorway to close. Pictures of the devastation caused by the vehicle fire emerged on social media during the early hours of this morning.
The images showed the empty shell of the burnt out vehicle on the side of the motorway. The sides and tyres of the vehicle had been completely burnt away by the blaze, leaving its frame and wheels totally exposed alongside the HGV's battered cab.
The vehicle was pictured on the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway between J7 for St Helens and J8 for Burtonwood. The motorway's tarmac was also badly damaged by the fire.
