Lorraine viewers were unimpressed this morning after Piers Morgan referred to Alex Beresford as "that idiot" more than a year on from his surprise departure from GMB - and Lorraine laughed it off.
The outspoken presenter returned to ITV to guest on Lorraine ahead of his new show Piers Morgan Uncensored which launches on Monday, April 25 on Talk TV.
And he couldn't resist having a swipe at Alex Beresford, who he'd argued with on telly ahead of his now famous walk out from the show.
Piers accused Alex of rehearsing lines during the ITV Good Morning Britain bust up.
He told Lorraine: "“Apparently he was heard out the back rehearsing his lines. Clearly wanted to have his little YouTube moment of fame, and that’s fine. I know he was planning a Hollywood career.
He added: "I’m not quite sure how it’s going; I’ve not heard any updates. I didn't walk out. I didn't walk out. No, no. Play the video of me storming back in - I went back in that day - I had some time out.
"I didn't know how I would respond sitting there listening to that idiot giving me his two pennies worth."
Lorraine laughed off the comments as Piers then decided to storm off the set reenacting his departure in March last year and Lorraine laughed again: "He’s storming off again, he can’t help himself!"
Viewers on Twitter were unhappy Lorraine didn't challenge Piers, especially, as they pointed out, Piers' new show is all about free speech and respecting other people's opinions.
One said: "So Piers shouts for 10 minutes telling us everyone is allowed an opinion and to disagree with him, then calls Alex Beresford an idiot for doing just that. What a complete twat he is. #lorraine"
Another added: "Piers calls Alex an idiot for having an opinion, all whilst plugging his show that is apparently about freedom of speech & respecting other’s opinions. Such hypocrisy! Why did @reallorraine laugh it off rather than saying ‘but I thought you respected other’s opinions #lorraine"
Someone else said: :"I admire @alexberesfordTV he has had a lot of stick and been called all sorts; yet he manages holds his tongue (better man than me). Today was another example on @reallorraine where he got referred to as an "idiot", because he called a colleague out. Stand strong Alex. @lorraine."
And a fourth questioned: "Why was Piers invited back to ITV on Lorraine only to call Alex Beresford ‘that idiot’. Why does he hate Alex and Meghan so much?
"I’m looking forward to having the same fun on my new TV show."
