Lorraine Kelly was left bemused when a segment with Jill Scott on Thursday, March 9, didn't go as smoothly as planned. The Lionness star caught up with Lorraine to discuss Soccer Aid, encouraging girls to play football, and her stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Recalling the last few Soccer Aid events ending in a penalties, Lorraine challenged Jill to a penalty shoot out - all while wearing high heels. But before they began, Lorraine discovered the goalie gloves she'd been given still had the security tag on them.
Laughing, she said: "I just think this is going to be dead good fun. I'm going to go in goal, I've got high heels on. Will we try? Here we go. Let's see how many goals you can get. I'll put my gloves on, now, look they've still got the security tag on them, Jill. That's terrible! Somebody nicked them this morning. See?"
Despite the tag being on, she was able to put the gloves on, eventually - after saying: "I can't even get these blinking things on!" - and prepare for the former football champion to take her aim.
Saving just a few footballs from going in the goal, Lorraine - who suggested Jill come and play for her team, Dundee United - ended the segment by saying: "We'll get these back to the shop because, like I say, the security tag's still on them!"
Earlier in the interview, Jill was speaking passionately encouraging girls to play sports like football, having the support to do so and having female rolemodels in all walks of life.
In response to the host saying the first female manager of a male team is likely to have a "tough time" she told Lorraine: "In a male dominated industry, sometimes just by being visible, you're doing such a good job. I say, as soon as that first female makes that breakthrough, we won't even talk about it because they're being visible. They're giving young girls another dream. They might not be a good footballer, but they could be a female physio, female manager and they think 'I can do that'."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
