Lorraine Kelly says 'damaged' Prince Harry 'needs to let go' obsession with British press

ITV's Lorraine Kelly said she believed that Prince Harry was a "damaged and sensitive" young man after reading his bombshell memoir, Spare.

The TV presenter spoke about the book and Harry's tell-all interviews on Tuesday, and urged him to "let go of his obsession with the press".

The Duke of Sussex spoke of the British press numerous times throughout his televised interviews, including suggesting members of the Royal Family briefed the press about stories about him and wife Meghan Markle.

His accusations about the press are mentioned in his book too, with presenter Lorraine suggesting he had an "obsession" that "ruled his life".

Speaking to ITV reporter Richard Gaisford about the book and her thoughts on it, Lorraine spoke of Harry needing to "let go".

She said: "I read the whole thing and I thought [he's] a very sensitive but rather damaged young man who... it's really interesting you know what you were saying about the mundane stuff.

"He seemed to absolutely relish in going to the supermarket and buying a pint of milk, it is like such a big deal and very exciting.

"The obsession with the press though Richard, he just let it rule his life and I think that is really sad, I really do. I think he's got to let that go, and just go and enjoy his life."

She concluded: "Really worth a read, really, really worth a read. It's good to read it by yourself."

It follows Lorraine sharing her "sadness" for the Royal Family, after Harry and wife Meghan released a Netflix series in December.

Lorraine issued a stern warning to Harry and Meghan and told them they "can't come back from this", as she admitted she was heartbroken for the relationship between Harry and Prince William.

She said she was "naïve" to think they all got along and that she felt "very sad" that the Royal Family don't "work together" but fought for the limelight for their charities.

Meanwhile on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the show aired an interview with US star Judge Judy who slammed Harry over his book.

She said: "I will tell you that I would be furious, and I would think that child or that grandchild was a selfish, spoiled, ungrateful one.

"That’s what I would feel. I'd be really hurt, I think anybody with a brain would see that it's disingenuous, it's biting the hand that fed you, it's unseemly."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
