Lorraine Kelly reveals ITV 'bomb threat' yesterday was 'gift' sent to her

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that the bomb threat yesterday at ITV was actually a parcel sent to her by a media company.

Yesterday afternoon, This Morning and Loose Women were axed live on air, and emergency footage was played instead.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 'suspicious item' had been discovered but the security incident was quickly diffused.

During the 'what's coming up' link up today with Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd today, Ben asked Lorraine about the ordeal and she revealed that the 'suspicious item' was actually a present for her.

Joking, he said: "Were you responsible for the evacuation? I was reading the newspaper and apparently, what was it a pair of suspicious underwear or something?"

Kate chimes in: "Oh, I heard about this!"

Lorraine smiled: "No it wasn't! It was apparently, I'm told, it was somebody from a film company sent me a wee present and it had a battery in it and when it was X-rayed it, it looked a little bit suspicious but it was all fine and dandy and it's ok so yes!"

Kate added: "It's lovely to know people are worried about you and taking care of you!"

Lorraine added: "Exactly, the system all works it's all fantastic."

Ben laughed: "The crew from This Morning were all thrilled to bits because it meant they all had to go outside for a couple of hours!"

All employees were quickly ushered from the west London complex as police arrived and a full investigation was carried out on the unidentified item.

A spokesperson for ITV said: "Due to a suspected security alert, the building which ITV daytime broadcast from was safely evacuated.

“The issue has been resolved and staff have returned to the building following the all clear from the police. We apologise for the interruption to the schedule and we have now returned to normal programming.”

A statement from the Metropolitan Police yesterday reads: "At 11:14hrs on Thursday, 10 March, police were called to reports of a security alert at Wood Lane, White City. It was reported a suspicious item had been discovered.

"The area was evacuated as a precaution and White City and Wood Lane tube stations were temporarily closed. The incident was stood down shortly before 12:49hrs. An investigation is ongoing."
