Lorraine Kelly has hit back at a social media troll who said she had 'awful hair' and was in need of a makeover with a hilarious comparison.
The Scots presenter, who was recently off sick from her ITV morning talk show, didn't let the insult slide as she quipped back to the Twitter troll. The critic penned: "I really think Lorraine needs a makeover hair is awful I’m surprised no one has mentioned this time for a short cut Lorraine."
Lorraine, 63, quipped back: "Well good morning Cathy - only problem - when I have short hair I look like Wilson from “Castaway “ (if you know you know)."
The broadcaster was referencing Chuck Noland's distressed volleyball named Wilson from the 2000 film Castaway starring Tom Hanks.
Lorraine's fans took to Twitter in defence of the Glasgow born presenter. One wrote: "Cathy, it's none of your business what Lorraine does with her hair. Wind your neck in."
"Nooo, leave her alone, I think she looks great the way she is," another wrote. A third said: "Aye OK Cathy. Lorraine is an absolute babe. If you have nothing nice or kind to say then keep your mouth shut."
"Unnecessarily rude. Watch karma doesn’t make your hair fall out," another warned. Someone else echoed: "Well you’re rude aren’t you? Firstly, wtf has it got to do with you? Secondly, Lorraine always looks fab!"
This comes just a week after Lorraine was sent home sick from ITV studios after coming down with a bug. Ranvir Singh was drafted in at the last minute to cover Lorraine that day, and then for the rest of the week while she recovered at home.
Last week, she explained: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT!" Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!"
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on STV.
