Lorraine Kelly lets slip Emmerdale set secret as she shows off Woolpack bathroom

Lorraine Kelly offered fans a tour of what Emmerdale really looks like backstage on set - but ended up giving away a behind-the-scenes secret.

To celebrate the ITV soap's 50th anniversary, the residents will get caught up in a horror storm that will wreak havoc through the village.

The scenes will be part of a huge stunt week, which will feature a cow stampede, will endanger residents, with residents left trapped and missing amid a horrifying windstorm.

Providing viewers a glimpse of the Emmerdale set, Lorraine had a nosy around and made her way to the Woolpack's bathroom - which comprised of just one wall with a sink and mirror.

"We're celebrating 50 years of Emmerdale this morning in the ladies loo of the Woolpack, we're in there right now," she said, gesturing to the sink and then the bare set behind her complete with wires and cameras. "Look at what it's really like! It's great, isn't it!"

Meanwhile, presenter Ria Hebden joined Emmerdale's head of hair and make-up, Claire Golds, who revealed what the actors were really like while they were getting ready.

"If you want a good gossip, it's good to have Lisa Riley in your chair," Claire said. "She's always lots of fun and a barrel of energy. She's really great fun to be around."

Surprisingly, she said that the girls were generally "pretty speedy" about getting ready and that it was generally the boys who seemed to take their time.

"We've got a lot of boys that like a lot of attention and detail to their hair," she said.

Opening up about the creative challenges they faced as a team for the storm week, she said: "We kind of had to just go with the wind and allow it to be a natural look and let the hair blow in the wind and not control it too much.

"But for us, one of the things we struggled with was that it's not shot in story order. So people get injuries during the storm, but more often than not we'll show the injuries after the event first when they're in hospital or the injuries when they're in day two or day three."

*Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
