Lorraine Kelly left red-faced after 'rude and naughty' comment to Idris Elba during interview

Lorraine Kelly made a blunder on Tuesday morning during an interview with Idris Elba - where she had to apologise to the actor.

The 63-year-old spoke to the star about his new Apple TV+ series Hijack, but couldn't miss the opportunity to talk about the James Bond rumours that he can't seem to shake off.

Instead of asking the star if he would be taking on the title role, the daytime TV host suggested he'd be better off joining the franchise as a villain, as she could "see him stroking a white pussy".

The comment left her saying she "needs to go and lie down" after she was left embarrassed and red in the face.

She said: "Look, you keep getting asked about James Bond... can we turn it on its head, because I think you would be an amazing Baddie in James Bond.

"I was going to say I can see you stroking a white pussy, but I shouldn't say that because that's naughty and rude and we'll take that out, thank you very much. We won't put that in."

Lorraine Kelly apologised to the Hijack star after the slip of the tongue (STV)

Idris chuckled as he said: "It's out there now! I've got it in my head now, the image."

Immediately realising her rather X-rated slip of the tongue, Lorraine burst into laughter and apologised to Idris, saying: "I'm so sorry!"

The interview eventually got back on track and Lorraine apologised again as she said goodbye, saying: "I'm so sorry, I need to go and lie down!"

Speaking from the studio, Lorraine said she'd meant to say the more innocent "cat" instead of "pussy".

Viewers were divided by the slip of the tongue, with one laughing: "Idris Elba just comes across as the coolest guy ever! Would love to see him as Bond (or the baddie stroking the white pussy)."

Another said: "It wasn't [funny]. In the slightest."
